    I wish I knew it all !

I guess I will join the junkyard and get the details on that truck setup, then post it and let you guys help me out to decide if it's worth as a starter setup because I have no clue about the 4x4 F150 year .

Thanks again to all of you for your advices, comments and knowledge! :tiphat:

    School me!
I learned that the stock computer uses a fairly strict table of values to feed the engine based on the amount of air that should be coming in.
When you improve the engine, you pump more air and the computer is stuck on a static table and cannot compensate. The MAF can see more and more air flowing with each engine improvement and compensates.

Now that you see what I have always been told/learned...

    What is the truth?

Not being argumentative! I really want to know.
    I have a 90 F150 with SD.
The F150 forums all warn against modding beyond very simple items.
The "gurus" there insist that the SD can only compensate about 10% outside the stock parameters. Headers and K&N are about the limit...
Maybe a Compu-cam type RV cam.

    Just my 2 cents

I have an 87 speed density Mustang. My combo includes ported GT40p heads ported upper and lower GT40 intake Long tube headers 1.7 roller rockers and have NO problem with speed density issues. You start having issues when changing the cam profile, although I do have a buddy that is using a special grind cam with speed density and running low 11s with the same combo.

OK, it has been established that the block and heads are basicly the same as any other 302 or 5.0, depending on the year, it may be a roller cam or not. That being said, with a little shopping around on eBay and parts meets and among friends, it would be a lot simpler and cheaper to find a aluminum intake and carb, a duraspark or points dist, change to a early style timing cover and front sump pan,[ last two required anyway] and drop it in the Maverick. While it may not be as flashy and not have the exact performance as the FI setup, it still can be made into a very streetable engine with plenty of power. Not running down those that chose the FI route, or knowing your fab skills, just my thoughts on the easiest and cheapest route. And not talking out my rear, either, as this is the route I went with mine--85 T-Bird 5.0 non roller, had throttle body injection and computer controlled dist, now aluminum intake, Holley 4 bbl, points dist, Hooker 6901 headers, Crane H-272-2 cam. :drive:

Hi to every one! I'm from Paraguay and i want to do the same thing... Put an engine from a 1995 F150 302 5.0 EFI into my 1973 Maverick... But the intake is too tall... The hood won't close... How end this topic? Lowriderick change the intake and put the HO intake and work? Or put a carb intake? Or just wait to save more money and buy a Mustang engine! Please help! I already have the F150 engine! What can i do? Can i change just the intake to a lower one? Where can i get the lower EFI intake?

You can swap the intake out for one from a Mustang. The basic long block is the same as the 95 Stang 5.0, with the exception of the camshaft specs. The 95 F150 cam specs are pretty close to those of the HO cam, so don't swap that out thinking the HO cam is better. If you have the HO cam in hand, then fine, but don't go hunting one if you don't have it.

I am using a 302 from a 94 Bronco and I have a GT40 Explorer intake. I'm not close to running it so I don't know if it will all get along yet.
