went over my moms apt to pick 'er up this afternoon where she's been most of the summer. just as dirty and beat as she was when i left her there since this is really the only car in my collection that is both beat and economical i thought it would make a good cruiser in the cold months ahead. the 250 will get me where i need to go on a budget, burning heat, very nice interior, little extra weight to keep it planted in the ice, p/b, p/s. enough room to pack some buddies in. the body's already pretty shot so ice and road salt will have the same affect as if you spit in the ocean. if you notice the fender is a diffrent shade of white. for as beat as the car was that fender was in perfect shape. so i swapped it with the one on my maverick then i sprayed the mav's original one white and bolted it on. i did take the comet out today and got her some new shoes (aka tires) and a replacment head light. not that im planning on it bt if i had to have any of my cars get wrecked this winter it would definatly be this guy. and look, comes stock with those spectacular crash ready bumpers
Tony, I like your winter beater! My winter car is a Chevy Blazer (I'm in the country, I need a 4x4.) Hey, my brother is in New Castle right now on work related duties, how's the weather there?
its still pretty damn nice here. high of 80 i believe. i wish i had a 4x4 but i think i'll do ok with this. wouldnt mind a tow vehicle either but what can you do?
What is this winter beater thing you speak of?? I am not familiar with that term. Winter for me means that I don't wear shorts everyday, I use the air conditioner less, and I might have to replace my windshield wipers.
My Maverick has been, and starting next week after sitting for 2 months due to suspension and drivetrain problems, will continue to be my year round driver. It gets pretty cold here (down in the low 20's-teens at night for a couple of months), but we rarely get snow, and if we do, it only lasts for a few hours and melts off. It is very rare for them to use salt on the roads in Georgia, maybe only one or two days a year IF it snows. Just gets very dry and cold in the winter.
I hear ya Tony.Idefinately know what winter is all about.I just hope my pet polar bear doesn't get loose this year .Heres mine. And yes thats a plow for those of you who have never seen one....lucky suckers.
