about the same deal, a stock newer v8 stang will eat a stock v8 mav, no contest,...
and a 05-up stock v6 stang will also eat a stock v8 mav.

Like mentioned a stock V8 maverick wasn't a horsepower monster ever.

As for the foxbodies listed the V8s in them were way better than the stock Mavericks. Its a matter of a Mustang being a performance car and a Maverick never was. (wrong year by the way on the Fox bodies mentioned before... they are 79 thru 93)

A stock 302 Maverick won't hold a candle to any newer stock vehicle V6 or V8. I'd put a Nissan Maxima 2.5 liter 4 cylinder up against a stock 302 maverick. I used to have one and it'd fly

You really don't believe everything you read in a Chevy mag do you?It will be a PITA to get the chevy in there, don't waste your time on a 305.Theres a reason it was free.

Geez you need help:p.A ford 400 is not a small block, rather a boat anchor.351C is good, but kinda hard to come by and very tight fit.Get yourself a rollercam 5.0 out of an 87-95 mustang, carb it,do the headers,2500 stall and 3.55 gears thing and have fun.:)BTW,this should produce a low 14/high 13 sec car w/no internal engine mods.

So, approximately what would an 03/04 mustang GT do for ET?

I raced one once at the 1/8 track and he took off before me (I was messing with the throttle and not paying attention when the light turned) but I took off and caught up with him, and just beat him over the line. He got maybe 1/2 second head start.

It was a loud car, not stock, but also not totally built. He was quite pissed that a 30 year old POS beat him.

Anyway, mine started stock, and still runs 8:1 compression, but has MUCH better flow now than stock. Better heads and headers. I was just wanting to get an estimate on what my 1/4 ET might be...

Someday, I will actually run a 1/4 track and have numbers.

    Stock?

Heck, who leaves anything stock anymore? That's like having a girlfriend or wife and only holding hands. Tear into it, swap heads, camshaft, intake/carb and headers. Step up with gears and a good convertor, maybe later add some compression. Leave that Chevy stuff to the losers who dont know how to make a Ford run. All it takes is heads, cam and intake, those are the big three. Everything else is just supporting hardware.

You can have a "stock" 302 maverick running with them other cars in a straight line :drive: and it would not cost a furtune. :thumbs2:

289/302 based motors can be build to a 331 and a 347 pretty easily w/ "shelf" stroker kits if your interested in that. Lots of companies carry complete kits ready to bolt together.

The 302 and 289 share the same blocks.

    Basically a 302 is a stroker 289.. lol
    Its just in the crank/rods
