Might not be as bad as it looks. Take off the crumpled fender and it might be easier than you expect.
    I hope.
    Good luck.

Your car took a perrty good lick . If i were in your shoes i would get the car on a frame machanie to make sure the frame is not bent . And if it is get a cost for the repair . Than make your mind to fix it or not to fix it .

    just my two nickel worth

I agree completely. Even if it is off slightly, I would definitely have the car fixed. They aren't making anymore of them, and that one is too nice to be a parts car because it needs a little work. I wish my Grabber was that easy to fix, I would have had it back on the road without missing a beat. The passenger frame rail was knocked off about 6 1/2 inches on my car, and the car folded at the front strut rod cross member and trans tunnel. The drivers side frame rail is pushed about 3 inch inches, the frame on my car is not repairable, so I was told. Funny, even with how far off my car was, the hood only received very minor damage, too, and the grille was only slightly cracked, both parts are easy to fix.

Your girl should probably see a doctor to be safe. 2 years later after I wrecked mine, I still have lower back pain every now and then and my hand and wrist get a dull pain in them every now and then also (steering wheel was ripped out of my hand on impact). My girlfriend at the time was thrown hard against the passenger door and hit her head hard against the window. Her shoulder and neck was sore for several days after the wreck.

As far as parts, you will probably also need the plastic splash guards that go in front of and behind the wheel between the fender and aprons.

That really sucks though. I feel for you, I've been there...

Glad you two are OK, really sorry about your car. Take care of any aches and pains first. Sometimes they take a few days to show up.

My first Comet, a 71, had a hard life. It must have been in at least four accidents prior to me getting it. So much bodywork and so many replacement body panels, and this was only a 9 year old car at the time. Got it nice and straight, and in primer, and an 80 year old guy moved the drivers side door in 6 inches while backing out of his driveway. ...another panel gone ...

Fast forward to a year after getting it painted ...
A large box truck merged over on us, his rear tire hitting my passenger front while we were both doing 60 mph. I had to drive the car on the two drivers side wheels to "land it" again. My car looked a lot like yours. It drove home, but you could smell the front tire on that side just burning up.

The good news ... 3 hours with a good frame guy, and that car actually drove really straight for the first time. It drove alright before, but now I could let go of the steering at 70 mph and it went arrow-straight.

I think your car will be fine in the end. Best of luck in between. (y)

Sorry to hear about your accident. Take care of yourself first and foremost. The cars can generally be repaired. It sucks that it was original paint, though.

I had been using one of my '69 Cougars to drive to work for about 2 years and parked in the same spot each day. One day, a lady in the handicapped section backed all the way across the parking lot into the front of it, doing $1600 damage. Boy, was I upset. At least, she came inside and admitted it. Someone else would have driven away. Now, I park in an obscure part of the lot.

Good luck in settling with the insurance company. Get an attorney if necessary.

    Jim

Lindsay got her back checked by a doctor yesterday. My right shoulder is sore from where I hit the steering wheel, took a day to show up. I'm going to see how it feels over the next day or so. No word on the proposed fate of the '71 yet.
