Well, I just spent the morning pulling the brakes and associated hardware off of a 96 explorer, everything is in the solvent tank right now getting clean. The rotors and pads were shot and the parking brake shoes were done but those are relatively cheap, I am stoked! I can't wait to put these on, I am thinking I may start tomorrow, but it is football and beer day so I am not 100%. :thumbs2:

Exploder brakes will go on Torino style (large bearing) 9" rears.
For Stang style (small bearing) 9" rears, or Maverick 8" rears (5 lug), you need Crown Vic discs.

Which rear are you working on?

    I read this:

    http://mmb.maverick.to/showpost.php?p=329611&postcount=36

I was under the impression that they would bolt up to the 8" since I have a five lug drum on there from the factory, it is the stock housing and axles, with an auburn posi and 3.55 strange gears. Please don't tell me I spent all that damn time on my back, on rocks getting gear oil in my eyes just to have to swap something else out!

Everything I read in that post led me to beleive that it would work out... I haven't pulled the mav rear brakes off yet to look though... Maybe that will be the first order of business tomorrow...

Well, this is my understanding of the swap-ability.

I hope I am wrong for your sake. :(

    Please let us know.
Meanwhile, I will check with UltraStang (Steve).
He is on the Stang site and sells these parts as kits for enthusiasts.

Hmmm... Well, have the stuff now, but before I go buy pads, shoes, and rotors I will put the new backing plate on (or try to)... That would really bum me out if it didn't work...

Very interested to know how this works out for you as I considered pulling these parts today while I was out getting the wiring for my 3G alternator install. Let us know what you find out.

Save some beer, you may need it. Sounds like a 12 pack job.
