Bang on the gas tank just to make sure their is gas in it. The gas gauge might be lying to you. It has happened to me. It will sound hollow if no gas is in it.

You are getting 2 of the 3 things that make an internal combustion engine run. Fuel and spark, that leaves air, which I am sure you are not lacking on. So you must be getting the spark at the wrong time. Timing set wrong, plug wires not on properly, or could even be the coil wired backwards. Check and recheck, and let us know what you find.

ps really old cars will run with the coil wired wrong, dunno if newer cars,,40's and up ( sheesh I am really dating myself here) will run or not.

Dan; funny you should mention that. My Mav has the coil wired wrong, and it won't run if I wire it right. I am using a Pertronix kit, with an Accel super coil. Had me scratching my bald head for a while there. Will this affect the performance or anything else besides the sanity?

Earl, On my Model A it only affects performance. Can't get a good top speed out of those if wired backwards. Now keep in mind we are talking 1930 top speed so it was a difference of going about 45mph top speed to a top speed of about 67 mph in it. Now that I think of it, my Cyclone Spoiler was wired wrong when I bought it, but it had so many other things installed wrong that I dont know if that was one of the reasons it would not run for the previous owner.
I don't know this for certain, but I would think even if the coil is wired backwards and still runs, it has to be hard on something like a condensor maybe. But if you have pertronix, you dont have a condensor anymore.

Dan; I think I might get another coil and see if that is the problem. I thought they might have put the cap on backwards when they made it, but I have heard of this before. I just can't figure out what is going on with it. Oh, well, just another quirk in a posessed car anyway. Fun!
