I was just wondering who here has a T-10 and if their pleased with it. I was thinking of putting one in my car but I also have a few questions. Does anybody have a Maverick clutch assembly? Does anybody know where I can get one. And would you suggest this for a daily driver application behind a 302 (thinking of going with 3.55's too) Gas mileage isnt a huge problem I'd only expect like 15 mpg. Let me know...Thanks.

The T10 is a very good transmission. I've had several over the years and still have one in my 57. The T10 was the 4 speed standard for Ford untill the Hi Po Mustangs came along. Then the toploader was invented. They are alot more compact than the toploader but not as strong. However, I have had them in several big heavy cars with stump pulling FE motors and never tore one up.

Blown76Mav you wouldn't happen to have some pictures of the way you did the clutch pedal and the cable routing and such for the T-5 would you? I have a Tremec T-5 sitting in my garage with a Mustang bellhousing and cable clutch just sittin around. I put it in my 82 GT 300miles before grandma T-BONED  me and totled my car. I would love to have that in my Comet but I have been afraid of the clutch setup in there because I have headers on my 302 and there doesn't seem to be much room.

I would prefere the T-5. Although I just assumed pretty much, it would be a fair amount harder and more expensive to put in. My biggest problem is that I need to find a clutch assembly for it. (although I may have found one). It would be nice to have overdrive though. I guess I'm just looking more for opinions on which to go with. I have at least $1300 to work with since stupid girl hit my car while I was parked. (That was like a gift) Anyway let me know what you think.

Does the rear trans mount need to be modified? Did you have to shorten the drive shaft to make it fit? I believe that the T-5 is about 1" longer then the 3/4 speed and the C4. I wish I could launch at 6000RPM :D If I hit 6000 the only thing I would have left is a few parts and an oil stain.

I've had terrible luck with T5's, we ended putting about 8 of them in my brothers mustang. His car wasn't even really all that fast but he ate t5's up like they were nothing. He later upgraded to a Tremmec TR3550. Ended up twisting the input shaft on the tremmec.....

The transmissions can be found at a good price. How much just depends on being at the right place at the right time. Buying one that needs rebuilding is usually the better bargan (as long as there are no tore up gears) because rebuild kits are fairly cheap. Around $250 for a decent kit. Make sure you get a T5 from a v8. Here's a decoder for the t5:
