Hey guys, first time post here.
I came across a 1992 Ford T-bird 5.0 HO motor in the junkyard. First is this similar to a Mustang HO motor, it looks to me the upper intake is a little different. Second, what kind of performance did this puppy have as far as stock hp.
    Thanks guys

    :Welcome:

As far as I know, the intake on those are the same as the '94-'95 Mustangs. Probably around 210-220 horsepower stock.

Sounds like a good score. Roller motor to boot, that frees up about 30-40 horses.

Damn! Just saw that he is another "Georgia boy"...they are really starting to outnumber the rest of us...:p

Good to have you on here:Welcome:

91-93 T-birds and Cougars had the 5.0 HO Mustang engine. They feature the 94-95 mustang intake, as Jamie stated, for hood clearence. the ECU is programmed just slightly different than the mustang ECU but not enough to notice a difference. i have one in my junkyard i plan to use in my '67. around 225 HP stock. good find (y)

The 93 T-Bird/Cougar 5.0 HO also used the 93 Cobra's cam to boot. The 91-92's got the HO cam.

Info came straight from Ford's 5.0 book. Only place I've seen the stock roller cam specs listed. It's got a chart listing all the specs and applications for these cams: base roller, HO, Cobra, and F4TE.

Thanks for all the info.. Thats sounds like good news to me. I gave it another once over and noticed it may have had a coolant leak, looks like the radiator, but I hope its not a head gasket. It looks like rusty water sprayed the mass air meter side. I also was wondering if you could remove just the wiring harness for the engine? Want to convert to fuel injection, cheap. Thanks again.

Being it's listed in Ford's 5.0 book as a 1 year only deal, I'd bet they were using up the stock remaining from the Cobra production by using them in the T-Bird/Cougar 5.0. Could be both were used in 93.
