Will 14 x 7 Magnum 500 wheels fit on a disc brake converted Maverick?

I was told that they wouldn't clear the larger hubs. But I've never tried.

Do you have a disc brake equipped Maverick?

Yes...they will fit. As long as we are talking FACTORY FORD disc brakes off of a Granada or Maverick.

On a Mustang or Cougar, you need 14X7's. If you use 14X6's, you need a spacer to clear the calipers. I would assume it would be the same if you used Mustang or Cougar spindles on a Maverick.

I have 5 sets of 14X7 Magnums on 5 of my cars and 15X7 Magnums on another. One of the 14X7's is on the Sprint Maverick. No problems.

Yeah I'm talking about Granada disc's. So cool.
I scored a good deal on a local set of 500's. I'll pick em up Saturday and post pics.
These were already on a Mav, but with drums all around. I didn't know they were off a Mav until I called the guy. Coincidence! I finally get to make a local Maverick buddy.

    Thanks for the info guys.

Great choice of wheels. I've always liked the Magnum 500's. My next set of wheels will be Magnums.

I've like them for years, but always wanted a 70's era car to put them on. When I got the Maverick it was a no brainer as to what wheels should go onto it. I looked into a set of repro 15" but when I came across this deal I couldnt pass on it. now I just need to look for the fifth wheel to complete the set.

Running 14x7's with disc brakes with no problem on the '72. They are factory Ford wheels that came on my brothers '72 Grabber. The discs are off a '76, with slotted and drilled rotors I got on ebay.

I had 14x7 painted Magnums all around. When I switched to Granada discs, the caliper on one side had some casting flash, and was rubbing the wheel. It was just as easy to put some 14x6s that I had on the front. Figured the brakes would cool better with the extra space.

I now run 15x7s and with the added diameter there is no worries.

Another note regarding repro Magnums. I have stock Ford wheels on the front and 15x8.5 Wheel Vintique repros on the back. The 35 year old stock chrome is so much better quality than the brand new WV chrome it isn't even funny. Gotta' keep those WVs shiny or they will rust.

I know what you are saying. The WVs are shinier and the Ford wheels are a duller chrome on mine too. But my car was outside for just over a year and the WVs started rusting lightly, while the stock wheels are fine.

I would bet that the nickel portion of the plating done at WV is better, but the chromium (like clear coat) on the Ford wheels is much stronger than WVs.

195/75R14. The tires just barely worked on the wheels. I had them on the stock wheels before, and the Magnums were a couple of inches wider. The bead almost wouldn't seat on them... They have been on there since May and I drive the car almost everyday. I'd recommend a little bigger tires.
