Well, for those who helped me out, thanks. I got two bad fuel pumps in a row (lucky me!), the third was a charm! However, I am back where I started before the fuel pump fiasco. The whole reason I replaced the fuel pump is because of what I am about to tell you. The car will start up and idle perfectly. I can drive it, but when I just barely give it some gas, just a little, it sputters and bogs down, almost as if it's not getting enough fuel...hence the fuel pump change. Also, going the down the road it acts as if it's misfiring every once in a while, pretty sporadic. Now, I have replaced the fuel pump, the rubber fuel lines, the sending unit/pickup, both fuel filters, cleaned and sealed the gas tank, rebuilt the carb, replaced the plug wires, replaced the plugs, put in a new cap/new rotor and converted it to electronic ignition. I did all of this at the same time with the exception of the new fuel pump. Right after I did all of this stuff, she ran fine, no hesitation/sputtering/bogging; gradually it got worse to the point now. IFf I gun it, everything seems fine. It's only when I give it a little gas; either starting from a dead stop gently or if I let off the gas as I'm going down the road and get back on it gently. It's a '72 200L6 and it does have a pretty radical cam in it. No, we cannot find the spec sheet on it and no, this has only happened here recently - the cam has been in it for over 10 yrs now. Sorry, but everyone I've asked at work started with those two and I just wanted to clear the air...that, and I am getting to the breaking point with this beast :cussing: Any and all help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like the off idle circuit in the carb is too lean. What happens if you richen the mixture with the idle mixture screws? It could be that the power valve is opening too soon - When you rebuilt the carb what number was on the power valve?

Carb or ignition will do what your saying. Carb sounds lean on the accel pump discharge is it adjustable on your carb?

I don't know what carb you have on it, but a Holley or anything with a power valve must have a power valve that corresponds with the vacuum your engine makes. Bigger cams and initial timing affect vacuum greatly. Power valves can pop too, which could explain why it just started. I had the same symptoms on my engine when I got it running. I had to boost the initial timing to get my vacuum up, then put in the right power valve. Hope this helps.

It has the Carter YF 1 barrel carb on it. This one is a reman and I have rebuilt it once already. I haven't had a chance to break it down and take a look at it, but that's my next step. Thanks guys.

so you hit the gas and then it bogs down, maybe it is flooding, because the spark isnt there..

i would check your coil, plugs, plug wires, and voltage regulator
