I am sure most everyone had today, Christmas off. Did anyone work on their car(s)? I did. I finished up my brakes on the Sprint Mav. I now have new Bendix shoes, wheel cylinders, drums turned, new master cylinder, hoses, etc. They are bled and ready to go or should I say, stop. I also did some more detailing in the engine bay. I started on the project before Thanksgiving, installing the engine and tranny over the Thanksgiving weekend. Today was the first day it moved under it's own power. HooWaa!! I ran the 302 and it ran smooth as silk. It has a new water pump, thermostat, fuel pump, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, belts, hoses and new fluids. It had been sitting for a couple of years before I did the install. It still sports the original 2V carb which will later be changed out for a 4V but for now does fine. I have been detailing parts of the engine bay. When the engine was out, I cleaned it and painted it Wimbleton White, along with the entire underside of the car in white. I also blacked out the inner fender wells and coated the trunk with bedliner spray and then splatter paint. I also reburbished the gas tank and lines, painting them AlumaBlast from NPD and the gas tank straps, rear axle, and springs in black. A previous owner had lost his keys and used a screw driver to try and start the car and broke the cyllinder. I transferred the column from the Comet parts car into it while the engine was out. I still have a few details to go, but overall it is ready for the next step, the exhaust or interior. I have a set of Cougar buckets to install soon. Anybody else work on their car today? Jim
I welded my shock towers up (for my 351). I made a post about it with some pics. I'm glad to see that everyone is enjoying the holidays
I didn't really do any work on any one car. I went around and did the semi monthly oil in the cylinders of my spare engines at my grandparents house, and turning them over 10 times and then putting more oil in the cylinders. I took my vehicles that run, (including my brother's '72 Grabber) on their monthly cruise around Jonica Gap and Shady Grove Rd. (some very old, ridiculously curvy, mostly deserted back roads in the mountains of NC). I spent a couple of hours doing that from about 1-3 P.M. this afternoon. Other then that, spent the day with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
i spent the morning watching the grandkids open presents. this afternoon was pretty windy so we stayed inside most of the day and just relaxed. took my 70 out for a ride this past weekend though. drove to town and put some gas in it.
I worked on the Comet. The T5 had clearance issues. Had to reshape the tunnel and redo the upper cross member.
Didn't work on the Comet, but got up at 4 am to install the sub and amp in my son's Ranger. Had to get done quick so I could eat, drink and be merry. Oh and hang out with all the relatives. Had a great time, got a sandblaster and new compressor,
Hey coutangman You said this motor sat for two years, any head gasket trouble? I have had this problem three different times. Let a motor set for a few years in the shop (no coolant) then when I put it back in start it up pressure in the radiator and out comes coolant.
I installed my engine and trans "finally". My son and brother in law were over so i took advantage of the man power. ray
