Hey quick question, if I pick up like a '90 mustang with a 5.0, what do I need if I use everything I possibly can from the 'Stang into the Maverick? Just motor mounts, the transmission crossmember, and what, headers?

I have a 5.0 and needed to buy the following...putting it into my formerly V8 car so I am using many of my old parts.

    --50 oz 157 tooth flywheel
    --50 oz harmonic balancer

Since I am using my old distributor, i need a steel distributor gear compatible with the roller cam.

THis is putting my old timing cover, water pump, distributor, heads, intake, etc. all on a 5.0 block.

The other items i needed to convert this 5.0 to a 5.0HO is roller cam, roller lifters, different sized pushrods (got hardened ones from Comp), the dogbones and spider bar to hold the lifters, and drill and tap 2 small holes in the top of the lifter valley.

I went ahead and upgraded the following even though didn't need to...

    --valve springs, locks, retainers
    --double roller cam chain/sprocket
--will be adding a better oil pump and hardened shaft
--will be rebuilding the C4 trans and putting in a 3000 stall converter

Hope this helps. Keep in mind that I didn't need ALL of this. Some is performance upgrade, some is replacement of old stuff, and some is NEEDED to replace the 302 with the 5.0. You will need a couple other parts because yours is not a V8 car.

Do I detect a ROAD TRIP!? Let's go get it Dan! We can slap an old bench seat on there, rig up a gauge cluster, duct tape some lights and a tag on it and hit the road! Bring your helmet! :rofl2:

Engine mounts, frame stands, and headers for sure.

The I6 tranny crossmember can be used, but the V8 version makes dual exhaust easier. That said, if you are going to use the 90 transmission, you will need to get a swap crossmember, or fab one yourself... Possibly using the stock member???

The I6 throttle cable will work on a V8, it's just longer than a stock V8 cable. That said, if you keep the EFI on the 90 engine, you just might need a longer cable.

Some things to keep in mind.
I don't know if you intend to use all the EFI wiring and such off the donor car, or if you have a carb setup to convert to.

Personally, if I had the whole 90 Stang, I would use the EFI.
