Worked on the car today, pulled the column to convert to the Must II susp.,installed my clutch pedals, removed dash pad,an cleaned up some wiring, pulled the gauge cluster out and took apart, the actual gauge background is like new with the orange "redline"on the speedo.polished the lens with a plastic cleaner and it cleaned up nice...until you put it over the gauges and it makes them look old...does anyone make a new aftermarket lens
You can buy a new lens from any of the Mustang vendors. You need to get one for a 69 Mustang. It will come with two smaller lenses which you will not need but the large one is the same. Well worth the price.
Here's a link to one at Mustangs Unlimited: http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=90887A+01
Before you send off for that new lens, try coating the old one with Future floor polish. You will probably only have to do the outside to make scratches go away. You might be amazed as long as the old one is still clear. Here is more info on Future than you will ever want to know ... http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html
Frank; I did. I got a 1970 Mach 1 lens set (about 39.95) from Melvin's. Worked great. Still in the car. Frank..............Have a Happy New Year!!!!!!
But that is the only way it will work, is if you lens is still clear. Once they fog up, you will find that there is no way to remove the haze. The actual plastic itself discolors all the way through some how. I am replacing the plastic with glass in my gauge cluster... Never have to worry about it fogging up again.
