springs/bushings I am putting my JC Whitney leaf springs in tomorrow. They look good. Are you saying that the old bushings which are in good shape wont fit on JC Whitney springs?
JC Whitney's installed today-perfect fit I installed my JC Whitney's leaf springs today. Fit perfect. All the bushings fit. They must have corrected any mistakes they were making with bushings.
bought them 3 weeks ago I bought them between Christmas and new years as I remember their free shipping code of Santa. They said it could take up to a month to get. I got them in 7 days and had them in the garage the last 2 weeks. The fit perfectly with the old bushings which were suprisingly in great shape.
Uplift Hard to tell as it is still on jack stands. I beleive it will add an inch or two. They are way more rigid and have 4 springs instead of the 3 on the old ones. I should have off the stands Monday or Tuesday night. I still have to drain the axle fluid, run rear brake line across the axle and replace the rear wheel cylinders and brakes. Then I get to put in the rebuilt motor and work on the interior. Got to believe when I had an old one lay next to a new one on the ground it will add 2". I recommend JC Whitney for leaf springs. Excactly what I wanted and best price. It was $130ish for both and I caught free shipping.
I just ordered a set for my Comet GT. JCW has free shipping today. I hope I get the right size eyes this time. But if not, I know how to fix it.
Free shipping on a Hevey item like springs is always a good incentive .Two inches of lift would be perfect for my rig . We just got hit by snow storm today ( Belfast Maine ) so any work on the comet is suspended in tell another warm spell . would sure like to see pics of your guys cars when done
I called JCW yesterday and told them about my problem with the eyelet size. They are willing to exchange my springs for a new set, even though I bought them last year. So I asked, "How can we make sure that the new springs won't have the same problem?". I gave them the part numbers off the spring and they're calling John R to check the specs of the springs they have in stock. I should hear back from them today. If the spec is right, I'm going to exchange mine for another set. I'll add the bushings to my order as well. I'll let you know what I hear from JCW.
Are you going to have to prepay return shipping on those monsters? I don't think the FedEx guy liked delivering mine.
That depends on what they say. If I have to pay, I'll fabricate bushings like Dennis did. If I don't, I'll exchange them. I got a call back from JCW. They told me that JRS said the eye for Mavericks is 1 1/16". Is that right? I thought it was smaller, like 15/16 mentioned in another thread. What is the correct eyelet size?
My springs are out of my Comet so I just went out and measured them with a vernier caliper. I took several measurements and keep coming up with 1 1/32". Considering how much surface rust there is on these, if I cleaned them up, it could very well be 1 1/16" I wonder if they will exchange mine? If they are paying the freight, I'll exchange them. If they keep records, they will see I called and complained about them too.
Garbage Man I want to throw out my old leaf springs. Will the garbage man take them? Around here they are real picky. Or should I literally clean out my car when I go to the quarter wash and put them in the dumpster. Any scrap value?
