Wow, you need to drive your car more scoop! :) I do 1,500-2,000 a month in the Mav, and have done upwords of 4,000 miles in one month before. I've done almost 60k in the '72 since December of '05. Did 10k in the '74 Grabber from May-November '05.

Haggarty wouldn't even insure mine when I first got it. They said that it wasn't worth enough. I ended up going to a different company because of that. Go figure. This other company wanted pictures from all four sides, the interior and motor. I should probably start shopping again as the car gets finished as I add stuff increasing the value.

Hagerty just wanted photos of mine as mentioned plus a list of modifications. They also wanted assurance that it was kept in a locked garage, and that it would not be driven more than 5000 miles/year and not for work purposes.

They insured mine for $6K with no problem.

i've got $15,000 on my 4 door thru hagerty and they did not require an appraisal. they just needed good photos and a photo of the car in the garage. like someone said, could you replace it for $6000? i based mine on actual receipt value.

They have always asked for pics, inside and out, and a list of mods and improvements. They like the fact that it is in various colors, because it shows that I am replacing metal with straight parts and not patching with bondo.

Jamie, I would drive it more if I could stop messing with it and just run it. I finally got it where I wanted it, except for seats, and was starting to drive it when the lifter failed.

So once I get this motor in and get 2 seats, I will drive it more this year....

Yeah, Mikey...for some reason, insurance companies think 21 year old married people don't wreck their cars.

Until then, they own you checkbook...

I'm with Grundy as well. $1.00 for every $100. of value, but I get multiple car discount so it costs me less the $200 a year for full coverage on 3 cars.

I use American collectors ins and have 10K agreed value. I specified MODIFIED which costs more. If you have changed engine, suspension etc then you need to, or they wont pay a claim later when they see your crumpled car.

Hagerty is very clear about posting pictures and giving a detailed description of your mods. THey are also very encouraging about your mods. They always tell me "you have come a long way in the past year, when you going to be ready to paint it? How many horses the new engine going to have, etc.".

They easily agreed to $8000 for me this year.
