Ok. It was announced at the biggining of this year that my home town 1/4 mile track is goin to be closing due to a new owner. He is turning it into an NHRA certified track. Not a big problem. But the old owner had this thing on every saturday were the track would be open till 12 at night. He did this every saturday to stop all of the kids street racing and truth be told it did work. you could run as many times as you wanted for 15 dollars all night. Now this new owner wont let anybody run on saturday nights. They will only run T/O's on friday afternoons and mid day saturday for 30 bucks This really bums me out because over the winter i have been working on my car hoping to get some good times and that doesnt look like it will be happening anytime soon.
Sorry this is off topic, but you got too many things moving in your posts... They all move together, real slow, one frame at a time. Edit: Now they are working.
Sadly that is the state of drag racing tracks across the country. Before I left Minnesota I found out that why there was only one dragstrip there. Turns out that you couldn't build any new motor racing facilities unless there used to be one there. A grandfather type clause. But that meant that each time they closed one down...there wouldn't be another to replace it. It always made me worried that it was pushing the kids back to the streets. It's just wrong. I moved back to Arizona to be near drag strips and car culture I grew up with. I actually sold my race car back in Minnesota because of the attitudes towards racing and the high cost of going to the track. Wish I could help you! Hang in there.
Ha. Well Now that the snow is melted and the streets are dry you can already tell how street racing is goin to explode. Local web site for my town have already been posting vids. but oh well, you cant beat em..join em. i was just out at a local event (Street race shh.) and a guy want to trade an 83 5.0 Notch for my maverick.
