wel guys, i am trying not to cry as i type this. my 71 maverick burned to a crisp this afternoon. it started at the halogen light i was using to work on the car. i went inside to do something and when i came back the garage was full of smoke. luckily the car was in neutral and i was able to pull it out of the garage. i was not hurt but my daughter can't stop crying. she and i put so much into this car then to see it destroyed in a matter of minutes is to much for her at 11. at least the front clip and engine was saved. the 4 doors are welded shut and the roof is buckled. i have hagerty so i will be able to tell scooper how easy or hard they are to work with. i am posting some pics
WARNING--- DO NOT USE HALOGEN LIGHTS IN OLD CARS!!!!!!
for those haters of 4 doors please leave no negative comments as my daughter and i loved this car.

Oh noooooooooo! Jason, so sorry to hear & see that!!! That's a lesson for us all I guess but surely a hard one to swallow. And another father/daughter project to boot, how very, very sad. Please accept our condolences, truly.

Man that really blows. I really liked that car. I'm even kinda modeling my 4 door after your car. 4 doors are Mavs too. Glad you and your daughter were not hurt or more property lost!!!!

Man, were you lucky that thing was in neutral!

At least no one was hurt and it sounds like it was properly insured.

    Best wishes!

Wow, I am really sorry to hear about your misfortune. More importantly, no-one was hurt and the damage was limited to the car. I am not a big fan of 4-doors, but yours is one of the most familiar I know from these pages. Variety is what makes each car more interesting. You set it up nice and your appreciation for your car is something I understand. Good luck with the claim, I am sure you will be OK and looking for another Mav soon. Hang in there. ~Brian

That is sickening... I really liked that car. That was easily my favorite of the 4-doors on the gallery. What kind of halogen light were you using?

I'm very sorry about your car. I thought it was one of the nicest 4-doors on this forum. Glad no one was hurt.

I can only imagine how sick it would make me if that happened to mine,
I really liked your car and am really sorry for your loss . I`d have to give the daughter a hug and tell her its ok we will just build another one.

thanks guys for the encouragement. MAV-- i did just that: many times. she is heartbroken because that was supposed to be her car apon graduation from high school. i don't know if i will build another 4 door or try to find a nice 2 door. i do know ALL the high performance items on this one will not be going to the junkyard. dana and i might just have a teardown party for the florida/georgia boys. her car and mine stripped to the shells. if she rebuilds hers i might have one of my own. anyone interested?
