stroker engine help

    Hey guys - I have a 94 5.0. GT heads and am considering building a stroker to use with my current blower set up. Does this engine have a cast or forged crank? Didn'd find any casting numbers on the block and haven't pulled the pan, (double sump set up) I am assuming this is a totally stock engine. crane roller rockers with Ford Part number and roller cam/lifters. Anyone know the specs on this cam? Any recomendations for the build up, stroker kit wise? I have my existing TF alum heads to use or could use the iron heads I guess. Any help/info/suggestions is appreciated.

    I don't think Ford has used steel cranks for a long time. You should be able to find an aftermarket forged crank, if that is what you need.

    All 302 cranks since 68 have been castings, except the 69-70 Boss 302's. The later 8-'s to 2001 stock cast 302 cranks are pretty strong, I'd spend the extra money somewhere else. Like better rods. The C8OE forgings are good to 7500 in a N/A motor with ARP bolts, but your 94 likely has the newer F1TE rods, of which I've seen two motors in stock applications break the rods, the rods, not the bolts. With a blower, you'll need better heads too.

    Better heads than the Trick Flow Trach heats??? Any suggestions?

    How much are you willing to spend? With a blower, you'll want a good block. Stock blocks are "ok" but with lots of power and boost, they'll break. Simple as that. How long before it breaks? Depends on how much you plan to beat on it.

    stroker

    Just a few trips to the track, mostly just Fri nite cruising. Probably would stay with a 332 and 8.5-9.0 CR. Don't want to get too carried away money wise either, but any decent kit seems to be in the 1200 range.

    If you are going to use a blower you will be better off starting with lower compression - like 8.0:1
    There are a few forged pistons with the dish in them just for blower applications.
