When they caught them in California they crushed them. No parts were going to be used again.:(I think they could make some money for youth activities or something like that.

Here is a story on street racing in New York. The NYPD clamped down on street racing and converted some of the impounded cars into highway patrol vehicles.

Street racing isn't the smartest thing to do......
Just about everybody here has done it though and don't give me that it's not the same. I just did it from one stop light to the next. You dropped the hammer it was street racing. It just was not organized. If you are sitting there reading this and about to disagree that's just so you can maintain your holier than thou type attitude. :D

I liked street racing.Something i wouldnl't do these days though......We did it in a controlled enviroment. Nobody got hurt not once. There have been more deaths at the track and that's a fact.
I agree not everybody uses thier noggin though and the potential for trouble is there.

Also if they would stopping closing tracks down. Everybody would have a track to race at. Freaking yuppies move in knowing a track is there and complain:rofl2:What a bunch of freaking idiots

well said. we used to race in elk grove , illinois. in the industrial park. it was basically a whole lot of quarter miles, built in a square. close a block off, and the fun was on. police eventually came, but wasnt the horrific scenes you see today. there was maybe 25 of us, maybe more, sometimes less. pretty controlled enviornment on the whole.

Yea i used to look forward to every Sunday night, there was a road just outside of town, nearly no traffic, about 1 mile of straight clear road no driveways,no side roads just a great road to race on.Thay was probably 8 or more years ago and if you had a 12.00 car on the street you were killer back then. But as the cars got faster and louder and the Import "RICER" kids started the 140 mph races on the highways that usually ended with sombody getting hurt. The heat really got to be too much for guys to risk and the friendly "Clear OUT" warnings started to turn into fines. So as a last hurraaa i aquired a street sign from the legendary back road and it hangs in my garage, and sometimes i just look up at it and smile.Woulden't take back a second of it.Well maybee just the time i had my doors handed to me by the Ranchero with the hidden Nitrious system.

Hey, what's up with the 'almost half a mile and only 110 mph'?!? LOL But seriously, there is a time and place for everything...race cars race on a race track. Street racing is completely different and is more along the lines of gambling. (I know...don't ask me why!) That's why gambling is illegal...the government hates competition!

That is the video we saw a couple weeks ago, that we thought might be Pinky...

Still, very impressive to yank the front wheels on the street.

too bad thats not a duster, but...mine was rootbeer brown, same scheme though. minus the wing. and it had a 6 pack hood. car was folded in half by a tree at 80 head on. and i lived to tell the story. motor was in the front seat, i was in the back seat.
