I have a 69.5 mav with a 1b carter and i was wonderin if any one else has had problems getting the inline sixes with the 1 b carters to start in cold weather and to stay running after they warm up.

    maybe........

.......IF the automatic choke system is still hooked up, and I'm guessing that the 69.5's had them, the way to do it is slowly press the gas pedal to the floor, hold and release, then crank. I had problems on mine (I-6 w/carter 1-bbl) for a while doing the same thing (cranking and not idling afterwards) now it cranks up on about half a turn and idles high, I let it idle for a bit and then tap the accelerator pedal and it idles back down and runs fine............Robert

I had the same problem when I first got the Stallion. Make sure you are getting power to the choke. Test the hot lead to the choke at the choke. It is fused through the fuse block and corrosion at the block wasn't allowing power to get through the fuse to the wire. You didn't say how old the carb was. It is possible if it getting juice that it is just bad also.

as far as cold weather running goes...make sure you have the foil/cardboard hose that goes from the exhaust manifold to the air cleaner. it made a world of difference in my 250.

it has a manual choke? ...let it warm up longer... drive for the next five minutes or so with the choke pushed in a lil. works for todds' mav. he put in a manual choke. he loves it now that he knows how to use it.

    The solution to your problem

The solution is a v8 conversion, and a holley with a electric choke. Problem solved

hanible.....you might want to check the line coming from the exhuast to make sure it isnt plugged up first of all.....also have you ever checked the timing on it? if its retarded too far it will run rough warming up even so when it gets really cold....or even alot of carbon build up in your carb? if so you may have a plugged up idle circut
