Still say it looks fine to me. As much as I like to speak up with my honest opinion some times, I'm having a hard time seeing the need to be hostile towards the guy. Not everyone is going for a 100% spotless show worthy restoration, especially those of us who actually drive our cars more then a couple thousand miles a year. It looks way better then it did before, and I'm sure it looks nicer in person then what the camera is showing. I know how cameras can really highlight little imperfections like that. Looks way nicer then the engine bay in my '72 ever will.

"Never discourage progress, no matter ever how slow" :thumbs2:

(badly paraphrased old Roman or Greek saying)

Nice choice on paint with a little gloss to it. I went flat black when the engine was out of mine, and if your car is a driver, it is terrible to clean. Mine will be a semi-gloss next time.

In areas that are tough to reach, I have used rust convertor products in the past with a lot of sucess. They take existing rust and chemically make it inert. Turns it into a black paintable surface. I have the original trunk lid to my Comet that is living proof that the stuff works. I used it in the areas under the support ribs where there was barely any factory paint. It was starting to rust the trunk lid from the inside out. It stopped the rust and still looks about the same a dozen years later.

I want to say that product was called "Extend", I think by 3M. I did a search but did not find that.

Here is one that has been demo'd by folks on the board here and one that I have been wanting to try.

Any rust convertor is not a substitute for the best prep that you can give the metal, but in areas that rust has penetrated (iron and steel are porous, even though they don't look like it), these go in and stop its progress. You can then go back in sand, prime, and paint over them. If the surface is rough you can use body filler, but don't use filler over open holes. Water can penetrate from the back and make the filler fail over time.

I painted is semi gloss with that "Rust Stop paint Knowing I wouldnt take it all apart and certain spot i just would never be able to get to. And honestly I dont think the guy was attacking me. Just giving advice that painting over the rust is a bad idea.

As for rust bullet and POR 15 I keep hearin about that and am yet to try it.

And yeah, I was only going for semi good looks. Out of sight out of mind. This isnt really a restoration than its going to be a car the way I want it. And if it gets driven half of what my truck does that motors gonna have some serious miles real quick.

Get some "POR 15" paint and the "Metal Ready" that they sell,it will seal that rust forever!! and smooth it out in the process.
