They can be stubborn.Does it turn in the block?? if so twisting and pulling at the same time(and a few more colorful words)should do the trick. If not, soak the base where it meets the block with a good penetrating oil over night and try again tomorrow.Just dont beat it with a hammer(alot).Good luck.

It might also help to mix up a little special penetrating oil - a 50/50 mix of Dexron and kerosine. Put a little around the distributor as you turn it in its bore. The mix doesn't lube real good but it will desolve the crud that heat and time makes of your oil.
I use more dexron for penetrating oil than I do for any other purpose. It will also keep your guns and knives from rusting.

Yup, AC compressor is in the way. Main reason I took my AC off and left it off.

Never heard of a distributor being THAT stuck:hmmm:

And you say it doesn't even turn in the hole? You can't turn it as you would if you were adjusting the timing?

All bets are off now!!! One thing I have learned from a close mechanic friend who helps me with my rigs is this; "removing parts and attachments like compressors to get better access, is time well spent."

As stated by others, you will probably need to be soaking in penatrateing oil. Be patiant; soak, walk away, apply pressure, repeat...

I know the walk away part is hard, but it has to be done to give the lube time to soak in.

Like paul, I like #2 diesel for a degunker...but you have to give it time.

While F=ma, Force=mass X exceleration, (get a bigger hammer) is a valuable formula...it rearly takes the place of patiants.

    Good luck

Sometimes bumping the engine over will free up a dizzy.

Of course, when I first read the tile of this thread, I thought we were going discuss getting Ray our of his chair and actually walk around the shop.
