Okay... What's the trick to getting the damn door unlocked using a coat hanger?

    :slap:

I've done this before, but never on a car that doesn't have anything to grab on to.

No trick unless you have straight door lock knobs or they are missing completely. If that is the case use a slim Jim car lock out tool.

They are straight. I got in though!

I need to get me one of those slim Jims...

Or better! I'll make a copy of my key!

I made a slim jim and also hid a spare key in my engine compartment. Lock the keys in the trunk once.

oldest trick in the book is :

mount a spare door key under your license plate using 1 of the plate screws.

I locked the keys in my 65 2dr Dodge Coronet once and called my uncle who owned it before me. He used electrical tape along one of the wires under the hood to hide a spare. I found it. It had been there for 28 years.

When I flipped my 73 up on it's side to clean the floor pans, I found a key in one of those magnet things, well actually a friend of mine found it, and I had already been working on the bottom of the car for a week.

My grandpa always hid a spare key in the air filter housing. Dosen't work on newer vehicles though, since you generally have to be able to get into the vehicle to pop the hood. I have a key hidden on my '72, in a place where no one would ever guess to look for it.
