Does it go in before the glass? I have the front and rear out at this time. Cleaning the black gunk from hatethese is going slow but doable.

Mine had a vinyl top when I got it but it was rusted out in the front....when I get the top repaired the vinyl top isn't going back on. I might do what I saw at the MCG meet last summer, where I saw a 2-door that had a factory top but painted it white so at a distance it looked like it was a vinyl top.

Yes it goes in before the glass as it wraps up around the pinch weld, and then the new windshield w/rubber is installed, and then the springy clips that hold the chrome on and then sealed w/buttle rubber and then the chrome is installed. Hope this helps; Rob

On my 74, the top was over the front lip, but the material was cut around the pins that hold the trim on, I may have a picture?
Have you cleaned the inside window lip yet? right above the top of the dash? I did mine today, man that stuff is sticky. I used a screw driver and scraped it up a bit, then spun it around like I do with a fork in spaghetti, holding it close so it did get too stringy, once I got as much off as would come off, I used Varsol to clean up what was left.

Heres one, you can see where it stops. It wasn't under the window gasket.

Vinyl top does NOT go under windshield gasket. It DOES go under all the Windshield trim clips ... those clips and glue are what hold the edges in place ...

    Thanks guys.
Hey Dave, I have the dash out so I been using the disposible blue shop towels soaked with charcoal lighter fluid for cleaning. It comes off fairly easy by pinching the lip with the towel and pulling it off. It is still taking a while but not real messy or sticky rather.

Gene, you might want to get the dash back in before the windshield is installed...:Handshake

Yup thats a good idea  I did mine yesterday after fighting with the black stuff, I would have thought, since my car was from California that it would have been all dried out, it had enough on there for 2 cars.
Gene do you guys have Varsol? it's cheaper than lighter fluid.
