Grabber highback bucket seat buttons

I stripped a 74 bucket seat, from what I could tell, the frame is really close to the Mustang, but the seat foam is molded around the frame, it's not a cushion like the 71-73 Mustang, and if I remember right, there is a difference in the springs on the bottom frame. If some of this snow melts I'll get out to the shed and take some pictures of them. Sorry for the hi-jack.

It is amazing how many reproduction parts have been put in the works for these cars over the past 2 years. It's all because of the increasing values of these cars.

I am doing a complete set of front bucket and rear covers for a 73/74 Grabber right now. The cost is about the same since they use the same amount and type of material and same amount of labor. The Ruffino grain vinyl is the heavily textured vinyl used in the seat inserts. the smoother grain used on the rest of the seat and door panels is Corinthian grain. An optional woven vinyl, sometimes referred to as Comfortweave was also used as an insert material. I will try to photograph some samples.

I spoke with a rep from a major reproduction seat trim cover manufacturer today about reproducing the 71-72 highback covers. They already produce the 71 Mustang covers so they have the patterns and all of the necessary vinyls to do the Maverick ones. There are only some minor differences. I will be meeting with them at the end of April and should have an answer shortly afterwards. If all works out they will be in production by June and available through any of their current dealers.

update

I met with the national sales rep for the seat cover company. They looked at the covers I had made and see no problem in doing the 71/72 Maverick/Comet highback covers. We decided against heat sealing the buttons to the vinyl as the originals ones were done. Instead we are going to make an exact copy of the vinyl button in plastic with the same finish. They will attach with two tabs through the cover like most other seats. It will look identical to the original. The covers are made one at a time when ordered so that mass producing the heat sealed buttons won't work out, more cost effective too. This will also allow using them on a bench seat or any custom applications. Most colors should be available since they are used on Mustangs. The comfort weave will be the reproduction embossed type. If anyone wants the real comfort weave I can still make those. A run of app 200 buttons will be done. I have not been given a firm delivery date on them yet. I do not have a pattern for the rear seat but if I can supply them with one they will also make the rear covers.
I have also completed a full set of covers for the 73/74 highback bucket seat interior. Most likely they will also go into production.
