ok so i found a 76 comet straight six car in a guys back yard .. looks pretty rust free but i have not seen under it yet...... but im wondering . i did not pull a cap off to see if it is 5 lug but does anyone know if it would be or not. and can i use the parts to make mine 5 lug? is the suspension stuff better than my 71 maverick stuff? What parts interchange if any? it is alot newer.. and are there parts that are worth any money to part it our ya know.. any advise or help would be apriciated.

Yes, it's a 5 lug and also has disc brakes. Almost all the suspenssion parts interchange. $100 bucks is a bargain.:)

The front brakes alone are worth more then $100. They will most likely be power brakes. A lot of stuff, like the 5 lug rearend, suspension and steering parts, and all sorts of stuff will interchange. Is it a 2 door or 4 door?

You will need to take the entire rear end from the car, and just swap your center chunk into it. You cannot just swap the axle shafts, the bearings are different sizes.

ok that would be easy enough i guess. i guess the center does just unbolt. so i need the front spindles and they will bolt to my ball joints.

Yea, the front spindles will fit your ball joints fine. You will have to get new rubber lines and modify your steel lines. If you plan to just keep the manual brakes, then just get a couple of brake line unions and a couple of lengths of 3/16 brake line about a foot long each. You can then bend those back around 180 degrees so you can connect the rubber lines. You'll see what I'm talking about when you get that far along..

The brake booster is kind of big. You will need the later shock tower brace to fit around it if you do swap to power.

I am running Granada spindles and discs. Makes a huge difference in stopping power over the stock drums. I do not have power brakes and mine stops fine. The pedal is firm and requires that you put some leg in it, but it really isn't that much of a big deal. You might want to try it unboosted first.

Another thought is to swap in the hydroboost system from a 90's Mustang. If you are running power steering, then that pump also is the brake booster, too. Hardly takes up any room underhood.

yeah i dunno if it is worth me buying or not does not sound like i can use to much off it.. and yeah it must be 95 and up. has to have the 4.6 is when they started doing that. the fox bodies and the early sn95 mustangs didnt have the hyro boost.

The brakes and rear end alone are more then worth it.

First year of the hydroboost brakes was 1996, which is also the first year of the 4.6.
