Chrome piece on '77 Comet roof

    Hello, all. Looking for some expertise:

    I am buying a '77 Comet 250-6 this weekend, and it has a chrome piece that runs along the back of the roof (see pic). Does anyone know if this is original, or if someone added it on?

    There were a few different versions of vinyl tops offered. I would say that your car had vinyl from the front windshield back to that trim piece at some point.

    I agree with Seth, looks to be the trim for the "halo" vinyl top. Have any more pics of the car? Looks clean from what I can see!

    Jamie, I was told by several that what I have is the "halo" top.
    This aint my car but it has the same that I have... So I ain't sure what this half halo is...:hmmm:

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    That Comet does not have a halo roof. I believe it is called a 3/4 vinyl top or a Landau top.

    Bluegene's car has the halo vinyl roof.

    "My Bad" I think we established that with Craig's post. I guess I have two cars with a 3/4 top then instead of halo.
