The main thing is to find out what the problem is before just replacing things. Whether it is a battery, starter, alternator or just bad connections find the problem then replace. If it is a alternator that is not a bad change and is probaly less expensive than a battery. I am guessing that you have a bad battery. When is the last time you replaced the battery?

The ground cable is fine. I haven't tried to start it yet, but I think the biggest problem was the corrosion on the plugs that go to the solenoid. I had my battery checked when all this started happening and it's fine. Yes, the solenoid was clicking and the starter wasn't engaging at all. Once I put some gas in it and try to start it today I'll know for sure if the solenoid was the problem. Thank you again for all your help, Paul!

I haven't changed the battery since I got the car last year. I checked the battery when all this started happening in the first place because I thought that's what the problem was. it checked out fine. Holding charge and all. After that I figured it must be the starter or solenoid. I checked all the cables after I drove it home the first time (I just wish I would have checked the plugs to the solenoid way back then.) I didn't think it was the alternator because the battery isn't losing charge or anything.

It was the solenoid. Hooked the battery back up and it turned right over. I think it was all the corrosion on my old solenoid. Thanks again, guys!
(note from the wife) yeah thanks

Not sure what kind of engine you have, but if you have a 6 like me, I did mine by taking the passenger shock tower brace off, you can get to it easier that way. I found it easier anyway.
