On my 76 Maverick I have an intermitten problem starting the car. The battery has a full charge but when I turn the key half the time it does not do anything until I try again. Sometimes I turn the key and leave it all the way ingaged and 3 or so seconds later it starts.

Is this the starter or cylanoid or what?

I’m sort of in the same condition…. Except its -37C… my battery is weak…. And my solenoid clicks… trying to start 10w30… I’ve got a new battery, new cables, and everything seams to be tight… so what’s the problem?

Have you thought it could be brushes in the starter or loose connection at the starter. Just a thought!
The brushes don't cost much but harder to do than a Mack truck but there easy to clean up with emery, armature needs work to to find out for sure. Even if that's not it it's not a bad thing to do and it might save some $$. Make sure to check it out with a set of jumper cables first if you try it, to make sure there may be a problem before you take it apart and can't get it back together like I said a Mack truck is easier.

My 74 has a starter relay under the dash, does the same thing when I have problems with it.
The little box mounted under the dash below the radio. Disconnect it, clean the contacts, see if that fixes it.
My windshield leak dripped right on this box, followed the wiring, and shorted it out.

I was working on a rich guy's computer, raining like crazy outside, and I had to hotwire my car in front of his $$$$$$$$$ house. Kinda embarassing...
