I want to know what is the largest disc brakes I can get for my 76 Mav? It already has disc brakes, I just want to upgrade them to really big ones. The rim size will be 15x7's.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Well, someone will correct me if I am wrong, but aren't the Maverick/Granada discs 10"???

If so, then you can use earlier Stang/Cougar/Torino/Montego/etc... versions that are 11".
Beyond that, I am sure there are larger brakes, but not for 15" rims!

    Edit:
    Dang it!
Now I gotta walk outside and measure disc brake rotors!
    I have both types...

Nevermind, looks like I was misinformed.
We were talking about it today at the swap meet, and some guys that should have known were saying the Mav is 10" and Stang is 11".
Best I can tell the Mavs are 11" as well.
It's hard to measure on the spindle, but I am not taking it all down to be sure.

That said, if you are keeping the 15" rims, you won't get any bigger to fit in there than 11".

The explorer set up for the rear is trried and true....
You may have to elongate the holes on your your end axle retainer....

the frt you can look at Vintage venom stuff but you will need 17 inch rims....

That would give you 13 inch cobra brakes

    just search online....

I have 13 inch 6 piston calipers but I ordered those with my Mustang II kit from RandC motor sports big bucks 4500.00 for everything

Yeah, what he said on the rears...
There is a write up on how to use Exploder discs on an 8" rear.
The Crown Vic rears are said to be an easier swap on an 8".
That's just because the bolt pattern is closer to the 8" tubes (and small bearing 9") than the Exploders, which are close to 9" Torino bearing bolt pattern.

I would swear that my Granada discs and spindles are 11" and seem to remember that was an inch bigger than Mav discs, but that was 10 years ago and might be wrong. I measured the discs looking through the slots on my Magnums, and they look close to 11 inches.

15x7 wheel fits these fine. I had a problem with 14x7 Magnums being very close to the caliper and casting flash on the caliper rubbing. I switched to 14x6s and there was more clearance.

The Napaonline.com site list's the same rotor for the granada and mav, 11.125 dia, .875 thk. The Torino's are almost 11" dia but 1.125 thk. I wonder if they fit the spindle. Now, I'll have to look up the bearings and see if the interchange.
    Thanks, Ken
