new axles?????

well heres the thing i have spend 5 grand on this car and have a baby coming in 6 weeks and honestly i cant spend all the money to have a 9 inch shortened and buy different gears because my mini spool and gear will not work and buy better axles. the axles in a 9 inch and mine are the same . so eitherway i would have to buy those. id rather spend 300 bucks on axles and be fine for a while. im not gonna break it as long as i dont dump the clutch at 6 grand with slicks... so i need 28 spline axles but i cant seem to find them

your the dif specialist. how can i make the 8 inch stronger? i really cant do the 9 inch thing this year but i dont wanna brake my splines. any suggestions.

 

You probably wont break it with stock axles as long as you dont launch it like you were saying.

you can get 31 spline axles and a 31 spline posi for the 8" inch. Yes i said 31 spline 8" posi. I can get it all for you. the posi goes for 490 bucks and the axles are 300 for the pair.

 

Like he said he has a baby coming,at those prices he could build a 9"....the axles aren't as big of an issue as the "dinky"little yoke that will not take a good sized u-joint,if you don't break the joint,it will break the caps as stated above,it is Not 100lbs. heavier and the stock brakes are not big enough to stop anything,my point was IF you are going to spend 4-500 on up grades,do it to a 9",in your case with already having a gear with spool,if your axles are 5 lug,just run them for now,without a lot of HP you'll be fine,But when you do get ready to spend some money....go 9",cheaper,stronger,easier to find good cheap used parts,or new...Good Luck
