In what years was it standard to have the chrome center caps, Such as the maverick pictured below? http://www.chooseyouritem.com/classics/files/65000/65133.html <- Oh yeah and thats a cool grabber I found on hemmings that looks like its in perfect condition.

I am thinking about painting my wheels silver glow blue to match the car and get the center caps just like that put on them.

I went and checked out the Grabber in the photo . It`s a nice car but it falls short when you start looking at the details. Excellent paint but they left off the hood stripe ?? Most all black parts on the car look to be painted with gloss black from a spray can. Exterior Door handles are original and in poor condition. I sat in the aftermarket pattern recovered driver`s seat and sank down too far -I don`t think they were concerned about the padding. For the asking price of $12900 it falls way short in my opinion. Needs a lot more detailing.
Is there a stock restore out there worth $12900 ? What`s the ceiling for a really nice car ?

    My opinion.....

A really nice, above average factory restored car would bring $7500.

A really really nice, extremely above average, complete tear down, every nut and bolt turned, etc....maybe $9000 to $10,000.

    Maybe

...but it would have to be a knock out car restored to factory specs.

Modified cars throw a whole different wrench in the matter.

    My .02 cents

I agree with Craig. Real Nice unrestored Grabbers go for $4500 - $5000 all the time. However, I have lost trust in restored cars unless I have restored them myself. I have seen (and been a victim of) people doing a cut-corners cosmetic restoration and you don't know what you are getting. Buying an original car - no matter what the shape - and you know exactly what you have. Unless of course - the restoration was fully documented with pictures ...

I would add......in my opinion....the numbers I quoted would be the ceiling.

The car in Georgia could be that. It is...in my opinion...a color that could draw that kind of money.

After reading mtrhed's description...I would move it down to Dan's price range.

I heard that a Maverick went thru the Barrett Jackson Auction this past weekend . Anyone see what it went for and how it was set up ? Also in the parking lot shows outside the auction there were a couple of Mavericks for sale in the $16000 range.
These cars were outstanding restomod versions and were probably offered at a price that was less than the build cost.
I`m with Craig on the $10K max value for a nut and bolt stock restore but you know and I know that you can`t do a car really nice for that kind of money. Maybe that`s why you see so many Mavericks done in a modified or restomod state . If you`re gonna spend the $$$ you might as well have what you want.

I just checked http://www.barrett-jackson.com - they do not list a Maverick as having been on the block ... One interesting note is that the majority of the Top 10 High Bids were Fords ....

I know. I watched it on Speed and saw the 41 Lincoln Zepher go for $410,000. The person that sold it had to be happy!
