I found this weekend that with flowmaster 40's, a short exhaust system, high compression and a lumpy cam I can idle next to a parked ricer and set off their car alarm! I had way too much fun in front of a local restaraunt this Sunday! Must have set off three of them honda civics alarms...Scotty P

That's funny!!! I've done that several times also, the 3" exhaust and 1-Chambers love to set off car alarms. Actually, my neighbor at the apartments i live at has a Subaru with an alarm. Every time I pull into the apartment complex the darn alarm goes off. One time they were not there to turn it off so it went on for like 45 minutes.

ROFLMAO...... ahhhhh the sweet, sweet sound of flexed muscle. I would like to see a rice burner do that.

1974 Maverick I bought for $500 8 years ago when I was 16. Since then I have invested $30,000 into it.
Speaking of exhaust, does any one here have the X-pipe on their Maverick. I have it on mine. I did 2 1/2" exhaust w/ X, Raven 30's, Heddman headers, and stainless tips 3" Anyway my question is did your exhaust get mellower w/ the X-pipe? Mine is still very throaty but not as much. I do however notice a difference in performance. 74Maverick, Thom

Is it an increase in power? Honda's have bigger tailpipes than us. About 6 inches. Too bad the exhaust is 1 inch and it sounds like a lawnmower. What a joke!!!!!!!!!

That's been a long time hobby of mine. My personal favorite is all the parking garages downtown here...some of the upscale ones have a lot of "yuppy cars" which are armed to the teeth. Combine that with the reverberation factor and it becomes quite a racket!
74 Maverick, i have an x-pipe too and it does make the exhaust a little quieter. Simply it is the physics of noise cancellation--but the performance gain was well worth it. I run turbo mufflers anyways, like to be able to listen to the radio :)

my stock cam, no x-pipe 302 with 2 1/2 piping with 2 chamber flowmasters sets off alarms all the time. And as for imports they are capable, my other half's 2.8 inline 6 with a two chamber flowmaster and stock headers used to set off alarms too. His 280z sounds like a v-8, and has even been mistaken for one many times. Alarms are basically a security blanket, they don't do much. Really, when was the last time you heard one and actually went out to see if someone was stealing someone else's car? Just my 2 cents.
