Been reading this site for several months and decided to go ahead and join today. You all are fantastic and I am sure I will be asking many questions soon. I have a 73 2 door mavy with the stock V8 still in it. It's in great shape, but there are things that need to be done. I am currently working with the interior a bit and about to change the bench out for buckets. We'll see how that goes. :)

I will post some pics as I take them. Thanks guys, you all rock!

I'm already addicted. I Love my Maverick to death! Needs a carburator as the one that is in it is leaking and I have never SUCCESSFULLY rebuilt a carb. Built several, all sucked!! LOL! So I figure it's worth the money to buy a new one. Wanted to go to 4 barrell anyway. :) Can't wait to get started on my bucket seats. I have a 2000 focus that I am lifting the seats out of. Gonna have to kinda work with them a bit to get them to fit correctly, but I loved my focus until it died. So, at least I can have a little bit of that focus in my maverick. Kinda sentimental. :) Woo Hoo! When I do the buckets I will take before and after shots and post them. Might be a few weeks though, with three kids and a wife, free time is harder to come by than money!

I hear you there - sounds exactly like what my dad experienced when my brothers and I were growing up!

Bought My First Focus used in 2001 and it was a 2000 too, sold it to my son when he turned 16, he is Turning 22 this month and is extremely proud of the fact that he is the only one of his friends with his orignal car from High School. Dark blue ZX3 auto and air 136k only had to put brakes and battery posts on it, Funmny becasue this is the worst year for Focus' I got away from a Focus for a few years, but in June '06 bought a new one, Screaming yellow, and it is ZX3 five speed, MP3/CD and Air only options, just about to hit 40 k of flawless performance, I Drive that car too.

I understand why you were attached to the FoFo,

I really did become attached to my focus. It was the worst year for the focus. Mine was a 2000, and we replaced the transmission about 18,000 miles in. at about 35,000, I was on the interstate and the guy in front of me hit a deer and I rolled right over top of it ripping just about everything out of the bottom of the car. Insurance repaired it, but it never was right after that. Had a small, SMALL, oil leak behind the block that I never saw. It built up enough and one day caught fire, pretty much ruined the front end to the glass. So, I bought the maverick. It was sitting at a small dealership about 1/2 mile up the road and I instantly fell in love with it. Red, with black stripes and black decal on the hood. The wheels are draglites, and I am not real fond of them. I plan on slapping on some of the ol' chrome rimmed, gunmetal gray torq thrusts. I love the torq's on mavericks. Looks good to me! :) Anyways, I have a tendency to ramble, sorry all!

Sucks about the Focus, but the Mav sounds cool. Is it a Grabber?

It is a grabber, minus the hood. The hood is not the original though. It was salvaged from a junkyard and painted to match the car before I owned it. Yeah, my focus depressed me. That was January '07 and I bought the mavy in July '07. Lovin' it! Just put together my own door panels for it as the ones in it were in pretty bad shape. The ones I built are nothing real flashy, but I was able to mount my 6 1/2 sony's in them and that was actually mostly why I did it. Kinda cool. This is my 1st real project car other than my '78 capri I had when I was about 17. All I did to that was put in a tranny and a carb and got it on the road. I was 17, and it was wheels! This site rocks by the way!!!

I am looking for a gas tank that would fit my car though, as right now there is no tank and a 10 gal racing cell so if anyone know where I can get one, let me know! Thanks all!
