abstract problem

    Rich mixture, could be a closed choke on the carb, is the float bowl clean, and float working properly, also check your fuel filter, a clogged one will kill a good tune, rough idle plus poor acceleration could be retarded initial timing.
    Did you re-adjust the valves? if they are too tight, it'll run crappy also.
    Does your distributor have points, or is it an electronic? If it has points, they probably need adjusting also.
    To check if you have a leaking ignition wire, tonight when it's dark out, raise the hood, then start the car, you'll see the wire that is bad, just watch the electric show.
    Just a few things to look at. Carb is my guess, Could it be a rebuild time.

    I had my shoulder operated on last wed, and for the next 4~5 weeks, I am couch bound. This IS the height of my entertainment. :rofl2::cry::cry:
