HEY!! Have to do!?! What's that all about? Actually these are side pipe covers, I'm running regular dual exhaust but with a funky curve at the end so the tips come out in front of the rear tires.
This is kinda what you would need if you had long tube headers and side pipes. My "old" muffler guy said to make it work, it would have to be so constricted that at some points, it would be only 1.5" or so due to the bends and kinks. So I dumped the pipes and went with dual Flow Super44s and dumped after the axle. I figured, I have 2.5" exhaust throughout, I don't want to crimp it down to 1.5 somewhere in there to fit the side pipes. But, based on this picture, it COULD be done...and it appears to be fairly easy...
mufflars? what are they for i like this better yes i know 6cyl trans cross member oh well...yes i know they are un even dont mind spider webs, cant do nothin about em...looking for a garage as we speak
As you can see the first bend coming out of the mufflers are mandrel bent. The other part obviously isn't but I don't think those bends are any more restrictive than going over the rear axle would. *One thing to note is that driving down the highway in the fast lane gets deafening if there is a dividing wall.
My friend works at an exhaust shop and he spent hours getting those bends right. Can't knock him for not getting the sides exactly the same since he did it for a 12-pack! I've got to get an X-pipe intergrated, hopefully when I get it reinstalled w/ the new headers.
He did it FOR a 12-pack or while DRINKING a 12-pack??? j/k...looks great. I managed a Midas shop in the late 80's. There is a little bit of an art to building a good dual exhaust system.
I was going to use spin tech mufflers but I may do mine like yours instead, since I already have flowmasters on my car.
I looked at the Spintech mufflers but when I spoke to them and flowmaster they both agreed that having the curve outside the muffler would make a more gentle curve making it less restrictive.
