    Need help quickly!!

Hey ya'll, I have a problem that I need help with. Sometimes when driving down the road, anti-freeze pours into the floorboard on the passenger side. It has no rhyme or rhythem to it. Doesn't matter if the engine is hot or cold, and I never run the heater, so it doesn't just do it with the heater on. What is causing this, and how can I stop it?? I need to put my interior back in, and I can't as long as this problem remains. I need help!! I'd appreciate any remedies that ya'll can give me. Thanks very much!! Preston (Country Mav)

If your water inlet valve (on the heater hose) is going bad or rusting it will let some water bypass into your heater core. If that is the case I would say you have a bad heater core also. LOL

Sounds like a leaking heater core...if your model doesnt have the heater control valve up by the fire wall, coolant circulates constantly thru the core when engine is running

Sounds like your heater core or hoses are leaking. It doesn't matter if you run the heater or not. Hot water is constantly going to the heater core from the engine. If you need to drive the car and don't need the heat(not advisable in the winter) you could disconect the heater hoses from the heater core and loop them together then replace the heater core. and put the hoses back on. hey country... one thing also.... while you are at it, spring for new heater hoses. and since you are gonna have to drain the coolant, put on new radiator hoses. more cash than you intended to spend, i know... but i figure why not since the coolant is empty. also, when you do it (core) fill the core through the hoses with coolant so it doesn't get "airbound"

So it would work to just by-pass the heater core?? I think that would be the best thing right now. I haven't got the time to change the core right now (COLLEGE). So if bypassing the core would temporarily solve my problems, I'll do that for now. Any thoughts here?? Thanks ya'll!!

You either have a busted heater hose or a bad heater core. Better fix it quick.

you probably need a new heater core. They're cheap, but a lot of work. If you gotta do it, you gotta do it, though.

Yes it will work to just loop 1 of the hoses back to the engine bypassing the heater core all together, the heater core is behind the dash, the hoses run thru the firewall to the core so it could be leaking at the hose connection, to get far enough to change the hose though the core is right there so I would change it too. On mine the core was the first thing on the assy.line and the car was built around it! Not really, but it does help if you are small and limber, good luck!

If your Maverick has A/C (like mine), changing the heater core is a nightmare. If you don't have A/C, it's not too hard at all...
