    Hey guys,

So I bought this comet a couple weeks ago. I took the carb off and rebuilt it Saturday. Slapped it back on and took her down the street. It was loading up a lil. So I came back home (mind ya, I don't have a plate on it). With her running adjusted the mixture screws, jumped in, she kinda wanted to jump out the driveway. So I got out in the street, and nailed her. Tire went smokin down the street:thumbs2:. That was Sat.

I got off work today, and took her down the street again. Coming back toward the house, I nailed it again, and really kinda layed into it :bananaman. She didn't stop spinning til I let off. Pretty impressive for a stock 302 2bbl. Single exhaust. Can't wait til I get the duals put on next week.

this and the weaken driver's side floor by the toeboard, and engine compartment, are the only bad spots on the car, so far :dancing:
    thanx for looking.

From what I've heard, it's not to that car, from Mustang or something. But I could be wrong, I thought it was factory, it was laying on the rear seat when I bought the car.

Way to go. Mine wasn't quite like that. But I hope to do that one day with this car. Thanx for the inspiration

Cool beans!!!! I think the Comet GT is the best looking package of all the Maverick/Comet packages.

....as for now, it will just be a cruiser, and running back and forth to work. I have a line on a 87' 5.0 roller motor minus the heads, for $150. I would like a Mustang II front suspension and coilovers in the rear, sitting low with 18inch wheels. Keeping the interior like it is. Nothing too wild. But it has to take the back burner now behind my 62 Impala project.:thumbs2:

:Welcome:Nice score. Comet GTs aren't easy to find, and that one still has all the goodies ... bucket seats, sports mirrors, deluxe door panels, hood scoop.(everything that I have had to add to mine ... ) I don't know that I would go too far from stock with that one. It would be an excellent restoration candidate.

Looks like you have your work cut out for you with that trunk. The trunk seal was probably leaking and the spare tire was trapping water there. Look at the "water line" at the low point in the trunk. It had a small lake in there.;) Also, if you have a rusty floor in front of the drivers area, look up behind the dash for a cowl leak. Very common with our cars and Mustangs. Mine needs minor work there too. But if the rest of the car is as solid as it looks, it would be worth the effort.

thanx CaptainComet, I'll check that cowl for the leak before I repair the floor. My dimmer switch is just hanging there:rolleyes:, I also need new metal in the engine compartment.

Gotta throw on a new water pump, alternator, hoses, belts before I drive her next week. Needs a dounut gasket, so while that's getting done, I'll have the guy hang my two Hooker Aero Chambers that I have here laying around:dance:. She should sound pretty good.

...also the oil pressure sensor (right beside the fuel pump), is leaking a lil oil. Replace or take out clean off, put teflon on the threads and reinstall?

The craziest thing about it, I found the car at a junkyard. The owner bought it off the kid that got it from the original owner. 82k on the speedo.
