Ok so I bought and installed these heads on my mav with heddman hedders with some bending here and there to get the wires on the plugs also used 90 degrees boots! today i was running the engine in high revs for a while and then bruummmm brummm the boots fried on the driver's side:cry: so the thing is that i'm not looking forward to take this engine apart and have new heads installed after the money i put on these heads.
What can i do? would the maverick's original manifolds clear the plugs?
    what else could i do?
maybe someone ran into the same problem:huh:

Scooper had that problem too.Used an extra header flange in between the head and the header to give him more clearance on the driver side head.

Yeah it worked but I think it was prone to exhaust leaks.Ask Scooper,He can give you the skinny on gt 40-P's and header fittment.Good luck Chirt,Those heads and headers are a pain in a maverick/comet.

Posted this on the Explorer head thread.

Those spark plugs are expensive, but worked great, as well as the flange. Not sure if I still have the flange, in fact, pretty sure I don't or I would give it to you. I will look when I get home.

By the way, the entire time I had those headers on these heads, I thought I had an exhaust leak at the gasket. When I took them all apart for the new engine, I found that the HOOKER badge rivets had broken loose and the badge fell off, leaving two small holes in #8 tube:slap:

When I ran P heads I used the "shorty" plugs on the driver's side and small 90* boots/terminals that are intended to snap on an electronic distributor cap. I still have the Ford Racing plug wires with the small boots/terminals.

I used regular 8.8mm wires and added these to the spark plug end, and just snipped off the little nub at the top...Those little nubs would end up getting burned off anyway...Part number MSD 3320 from JEGS.

Still using them today but this end is now on the distributor, and I have 120 degree angled boots on the plugs.

The nice part about the sparkarms is that you can use any wires!
    What plugs did you use?
