I initially hooked up the red choke wire on the edelbrock to the old choke wire on the maverick harness. Choke was kept closed. So I put in a new voltage regulator, harness for regulator and alternator harness. It seems to be working put wanted to test the the red lead into the electric choke so I put a light tester on the red lead and clipped the other end to the neg on the battery. Light did not go on? Is that normal i.e. is the voltage so low on the choke that it wont light up a 12 volt bulb? Thanks Tuning: It idles at about 550 in gear and 900 in park. What would you do?
You have to check the voltage on the wire with a volt meter, it is only 6 to 7 volts. Check out this link: http://www.electricalrebuilders.org/techlib/techbasics/0604techbasicsford1g.pdf
