I spoke to a guy at SMS today. He said that they do have comfort weave, but it is the original stuff. He said when they have black it is 95.00 a yard. I am not building a show car so I am out on that. He said some make aftermarket stuff but original is actually "woven" vinyl so it breathes. The aftermarket stuff is a pressed pattern that looks like the weave, but is solid therefore it does not breathe like the factory did. Has anyone found any aftermarket stuff? He gave me some leads on who may have it, but I will have to research that before I know for sure. If I find some aftermarket would anyone be interested enough for me to post info on where you can get it? Just thought maybe some would be interested in the look without having to float a loan to have their seats covered!!

All the pre-made aftermarket repop seat covers are 'fake' Comfortweave.

The stock stuff is not only weaved, but it is weaved of 2 different colors.
Which colors/hues depends on interior color, of course. Maybe even year and model.

I bought some comfort weave material from SMS and had my front buckets redone, They look great. I paid about $80.00/yd, total cost for getting the seats redone and the material was about $325.00. I didnt think that was to bad.

The aftermarket stuff is specifically for Mustang seats ... I have not seen anything aftermarket that looks even close to Maverick Comfortweave ... Here is what I had the inserts in my 71 done with ... Maverick Specific 1971 Black Comfortweave from SMS ...

The repro Mustang Comfort Weave covers made by Distinctive Industries have the "fake" Comfort Weave. It is just an embossed design in the vinyl. The only real Comfort Weave available is original old stock, it is no longer being made and most likely will never be made again. The machinery needed is very expensive and there were only two manufacturers of it. One in the US, that equipment has been dismantled and sold for salvage. There is another company in Japan that has the equipment but it is damaged and they do not plan on repairing it. If anyone is interested in the fake stuff I can look into getting it directly from Distinctive Industries. I have been able to purchase other reproduction vinyls from them in the past.
