    Hello,

first of all i would like to thank all of you for the great information available on this site it has helped me out numerous times.

I have been gathering parts for a disc brake conversion for the last couple of months. this weekend i decided it was time to get my hands dirty. i have read all the articles here and few on other places around the web about it and it seemed pretty straight forward. the one thing that has me stopped at the moment is removing the old spindles. on the guides for putting maverick spindles on a mustang they all say to remove the spring. on the maverick guides this is never mentioned. do i have to remove the spring to remove the spindle on a maverick? i have everything unbolted and the tie rod end out but the spindle will not come out. do i just need to persuade it (with a large hammer)? or do i need to compress/remove the spring to give me enough clearance to remove it?

also does anyone know where i can get a new bushing for the lower control arm? the local parts stores can only get a whole new control arm which is not really needed.

You still need to remove the upper ball joint from the spindle. You'd use a ball joint separator and a big hammer.

Removing the spring is not necessary.

The lower ball joint always comes with the whole arm. So you would have to buy the whole arm and replace it.

Thanks that exactly what i needed to know. i just wanted to be sure the spring wasn't going to come flying off and possibly kill me. i guess im going to have to order the whole arm then thats kind of unfortunate.

thanks again for the quick reply you guys really are life savers.

    No problem,

The spring is held in by the spring perch and will not come at you when you remove the spindle.

I was a little miffed too when I had to buy both lower control arms myself when I did my disc swap. I just figured it's better to do all the front suspension stuff now while you are down there since it sucks so much. LOL

Next you gotta do the rear disc swap and have more fun.(y)
