I was out looking at some property today and came across a guy with a '72 Grabber sitting idly in his backyard. It had been off the road for about 12 yrs. Original Grabber, 2B Bright Red, White bucket interior, 302 still had a 2V, 3 spd. manual. It had what appeared to be an aftermarket A/C setup, but I don't recall the compressor being there. It's straight, but rusty from sitting on the open ground. Cowls showed signs of leaking, mildewed interior, doors showing rust, rear qtrs. same, and front of the Grabber hood was rusted underneath. The ground was really wet and I wasn't dressed for climbing around underneath. I would need to see the floorpans, rails and torque boxes. Maybe a parts car. He was not going to 'give' it away, but I am afraid it won't be worth much if the pans and t-boxes are shot. I'll update later. No, didn't have the camera with me. Seth
If its been sitting in the grass for 12 yrs,the door latches and windshield are the only things holing it together.Good luck, hope I am wrong.
Nah! It's not that bad, this isn't New York! Just a damp ground climate. That Grabber hood rust is due to the front moulding. If I had one of these cars sitting outside in the rain/weather, I would remove the trim from the hood and decklid and cover the cowl with one of those Mustang plexiglass pieces. It may be salvageable, don't know yet. But, I may not go after it depending on what he wants. Seth
I know what you mean,Damp ground any where will kill steel though if left long enough. In New York its the salt they put down in winter that kills cars.
