Ok, I have my engine reassembled and running but I can't set the timing because I don't know where to mount that little piece above the balancer. The Chilton's pic doesn't look like anything I have. Can someone snap some pics of the bottom of their engine so I can see where to attach that marker piece? I don't know if the 72 was different from other years...

Oh yeah its a stock shortblock 302.

    Thanks in advance.

Thats exactly what I needed. Thanks a lot! Now I have to roll my fenderwells for my tires, I shredded them pretty bad in just the little I've driven it.

What size tires did you end up with, that you shredded?

I fixed my shred by first tightening up my travel on my slapper bars, and later better fixed it by adding Cal-Tracs.

The size is 265/50 14. (10.5" at the widest point) I've actually had the tires for several years, but the car hasn't been on the road for a while. While i was working on the car I replaced the rear shocks (originally air shocks) with KYB shocks. While they're better shocks, the springs have sagged making the problem worse. For now I've emptied my trunk and only have one passenger. I debated for a long time on the tires vs 245/60s and now I'm kicking myself. Rolling the fender lip just makes me nervous. I was reading about some of the options and I'd really rather not. Eventually I'm going with ET Streets in either 235/60 or 255/60s on these.
