I now know the reason for my bad mood

I have been working day and night, been in a real crappy mood. Plus since the end of February I have been rebuilding a totalled 04 Bonneville. It is now done, thankfully. It is hard to get things done around the house when I am gone most of the week on the road. The weather has been lousy this spring and it seems it is a god send just to have a few hours to mow grass. Today really sucked, it was beautiful outside, I had to mow, lots of tall grass. Then I had to give my 60 Pontiac a tune-up. Was not in the mood. While I was in the garage working on the poncho I realized why I am so damn cranky, there sits my Stallion in a bag, where it has stayed all winter. Goal for next weekend is to get grass mowed, take Stallion out of bag, change oil and take it out for a day long drive. That car makes me happy!

And I thought I was bad ... at least my Grabber has been out 3 times this year including today ....

 

Dan Starnes my friend, I know how you feel. Being gone all week makes it hard to keep up with the stuff at home, much less the hobby stuff. I have been busting my butt for about the last month trying to get in early every Friday just so I can have a day and a half or so to get my stuff ready to go to Commerce Ga next month. Today, I finished the trailer up, and jumped headlong on the car, getting the interior finished. Next week if it doesn't rain Sat, I will finish hanging the exhaust and do a little detailing under the hood, and then maybe, just maybe I can finally go on a test drive!

 

I feel your pain Dan,For me its the other way around though.I work on cars all week.Then come the weekend and sometimes I just dont want to look at another car,even my mav.I would rather mowe the grass sometimes,But I miss driving my mav and that usually motivates me to get things done with her so I can get her back in street trim.Get her out of the bag and enjoy.All work and no play makes people go postal.

Yes, Tom, I keep my car in a bag during the winter. I keep it in my heated part of my garage, where I do bodywork and paint. The bag really works well. First I put the car cover on it, then I take plastic sheeting and lay it on the floor, roll car over sheeting and start wrapping it, then duct tape it together and form a bag. No problem of mold cause I heat the garage.

I remember seeing an ad for a "car bag" a few years ago, might have been in an Eastwood or TIP tools catalog. IIRC, it had a hoop on one end, you stretched the bag out and then drove thru the hoop into it. You then removed the hoop and it zipped shut. Seems like they had several different sizes, but were a little on the pricey side.....

 

I also know how you feel, Dan. All Dale and I do is work on other people's cars, which leaves us zero time to play with ours. We've been busting our humps trying to get the '73 Grabber in our shop done, and all the while I've been itching to get it out so I can get some work done on ours. My red Maverick has been out of the garage once this spring. The red and white one has been out twice, and that was only for a couple of short trips downtown. I need to take it for another short trip downtown...........to fill the gas tank.

 

I had to re read what you said. I thought you said your Stallion and a bag sat there since last winter...
That has to be one hella plastic sheeting. Where do you get it?

 

Here is the place where you can get a car "bag", aka Car Capsule. They have a fan connected to them and are suppose to really keep the car in good, mold free condition. I've thought about getting one some day...

I feel blessed.

I miss very few days driving one of my old cars. That is especially true with my white '69 Cougar conv, which I drive most days back and forth to work, usually with the top down.

All of mine sit under covers in the garage, but that is mainly for dust purposes, not protection from the elements. As long as it has a motor in it, I drive it, even if it is just around my property.

Drive 'em, don't store 'em!
