I know he pops his head in here from time to time, although not as often since he finished the resto on his dog dished baby blue Maverick, but I thought I would copy a post from the Boss 302 message board to show you guys what GS Johnson was up to. For those of you who don't know he is an experienced Boss '2 collector and enthusiast. http://www.boss302.com/board/viewthread.php3?FID=2&TID=6635 He has another Boss now. Congrats to him. Someone here may have a pic of his EFI converted Maverick. Who knows, that may be for sale now to make room for the Boss project?? Seth
Hey thanks Seth. And it looks as though I will be reluntantly selling the Maverick. I just plain don't have the room. I've got six other cars & projects going. I know...I need therapy...Here's a couple of other Pics of the Boss 302 I just picked up over the weekend...
I am interested in finding some vintage style wheels like those pictured above for my Mav. Can anyone give me some search tips on what look for. I dont know what to call them. Does anyone still make them. I think 16" version would look really neat.
Those are the Shelby 10 spokes which haven't been produced in years. They were actually a copy of the original T/A Minilite wheels from England. The Minilites are still available thru Main Street Motorsport in Conneticut. Steve Francis is the sole distributor for these wheels in the U.S. I just bought another set from him for the 67 Mustang Coupe open track car that I am building. He can be reached at sales@minilitewheels.com. Tell him that I refered you.
. If you don't mind me asking, how much you pick that Boss up for GSJohnson? I'm curious how much they go for these days.
That engine just intrigues the sheeet out of me. Is that some type of crossfire intake and the cylinder...whats up with that? Tell me about it GS
My last Boss that I restored just sold for 49K. The prices on these cars have been going thru the roof in the last year & are closing in on the Shelby prices. Let's just say that I paid under 20K for this one & I thought the car was a steal. The seller had owned the car since 1982 & the car has not seen the street or track since 1992. The car was never advertised & I heard about it thru a friend. The guy wasn't aware of the recent boom on Boss 302s, yet he was very happy that I was buying the car. The induction system on the motor is an original Trans Am Cross Boss intake with an Autolite inline 4 barrel-875 CFM. The theory was to have each barrell sit directly over 2 cylinders for a better feed to the cylinders(A fuel Injection theory). Ford built a limited # of these back in 1970 to circumvent the new carburetor rules for Trans Am in 1970. After much testing, SCCA out lawed the carburetor just prior to the beginning of the season stating that these carburetors were not available to the general public & was built specifically for the Trans Am & it was not within the spirit of the rules. A very rare piece. The last one sold on ebay for $3600!
gsjohnson, I give you credit, you always do your home work on these cars! Question, did you have one of your other cars in one the magazines within the last few months? I seen a car and the owner's name was gsjohnson for Pasdena Calif, and I thought it might be you!
Yes, I've had several of my cars featured in Magazines over the years. I'm not sure which one you are referring to, but my Maverick is due out in Mustang & Fords at anytime.
You can get what you are looking for from vintage wheels, they have mini-lites replicas called vintage 48's in 16"x8"http://www.mustangdepot.com/OnLineCatalog/WheelParts/vintage1.htm great find and good luck with the new car
