one of the things i still have to buy its a ebrock T-289 going onto a set of GT40's if that makes a diffrence. im going to pick up a few things from the speed shop today anyway... thanks
i got the fel pro and did have any problems... just make sure and take your time cleaning all surfaces..... scrap all the old gasket off (if its not alread off) and then spray it down with either carb cleaner or break cleaner.
I forgot which brand uses them, but there are some that come with 2 thin metal plates that you trim-to-fit over the exhaust heat risers. I have collected a few sets of these over the years so I have them no matter what intake set I use. They are pretty much good to go over and over. I like that they keep the intake quite a bit cooler by blocking the exhaust crossover under the carb. Just a thought. Disclaimer: It is said that up north in the winter, throttle blades can ice up without heat, but I never had issue as far north as Memphis or Charlotte, with carbs, and Minnesota with EFI. Carbs generally use the exhaust crossover, and EFI uses engine coolant run into the TB to keep it warm (Ford EFI uses both). I disconnect any heat to intake and gain power. Just consider the icing thing. I may just have been lucky.
ok, its probably not going to be much of a winter car anyway does the 289 even have a heat crossover casted into it? (i havent got mine yet to see for myself )
I have a set of Felpro intake gaskets sitting on the floor of my garage, if you were closer you could have them.
Yeah, T289 has the heat crossover under the carb. RPM AG, Victor Jr, and wilder intakes don't have the stove crossover. This is one of their 'claims to fame', especially the air gap RPM.
