Freind of mine sent me this picture he took with his camera phone. Said he talked to the lady and the car is not for sale. said it belonged to her daughter and she keeps it for good luck. He said the car has current tags which means the lady has to have at least minimal insurance on it. If it wasn't tagged the state would make her remove it from her yard since you technically can't keep unregistered cars in Maryland. Anyway here it is.
Got lots of cars like that around here. Damned shame. I'll get some pictures of the 68 Charger, 68 Camaro, 69 Chevelle, 71 Roadrunner, 65 Coronet, 66 Mustang, 3x64 Impalas, Delorean, Lotus Europa, 75 Nova and others to post here sometime. It'll make you sick.
Ha! I saw a Deloren this morning, 6 am at Tim Hortons (I guess you'll never know what you're gonna see early in the morning)
In Oklahoma you can "black tag" a car - which means that it is uninsured but has a current tag. It cannot be driven on the road with a black tag (the sticker is actually black). Does MD do this?
NOPE. If you drop the insurance before turning in the tags the insurance company is supposed to report you and the MVA fines you heavily. You can technically keep an unregistered car as long as it is out of eye shot. If it is sitting out in the open where people can see it and someone complains they give you "X" amount of days to either tag it or get rid of it and then they can either remove it for you or fine you. They did it to my Grandfather. He had a 1966 Marlin, and bought a 72 ambassador to replace it when the Marlin turned 300,000 miles and he parked the Marlin behind his barn and the neighbor offered to buy it. When Pop turned down the neighbor's offer suddenly someone from the state showed up with an order to either have the car tagged or remove it from the property. So Pop sold it and a few weeks later the guy that bought it wrecked it and it was totalled out. I have heard and seen it happen to other people as well. This is one of the reasons I need to get rid of that 68 Galaxie I have in the garage and make room for my Grandfathers old Jeep before one of the neighbors say something and I wind up on a time schedule to get tags or sell something. I wanted to actually get a trailer and take that Galaxie to Carlisle with me but I haven't had time to get it running again and I don't want to sell it too cheap just because it isn't currently running.
I think it varies from state to state, some states do not require insurance even if you drive it everyday, that includes liability.
I've made submissions to it before. Doesn't get updated very often. One of the Daytona photos on the Winged Warrior page was taken in a shed maybe 5 miles from me. I have stood in the exact spot the photographer was standing when the posted picture was taken. It's the green Daytona with the black stripe.
It may be good luck for the daughter, but it's bad luck for the Maverick. The poor thing looks like it's rotting into the ground.
I don't even know exactly where the car is. I know it is in St. Mary's county Maryland but other than that the guy that sent me the picture didn't reply back to exactly where the car is??? I am willing to hazard a guess that if she doesn't want to get rid of the car and she is willing to pay for tags and insurance that she prolly won't sell the sport mirrors. Although if I find out where the car is I just may go ask her anyway.. The person that took the picture is actually my (step)Daughter's biological father. I tlak to him quite often and he takes photo's for one of the local papers in StMary's county. He knows I am in to Mavericks and just emailed me the picture and a little blurb about the lady not wanting to sell the car.
