A few members here have modded various Ford tilts to fit. None have 'bolted in' that I know of. The question of the Stang tilt is bothersome because the column is probably very valuable. I wouldn't mod one myself, but 'different strokes'... I would sell it, and use a small portion of the money to try a Granada/Monarch tilt. Easy to find and probably closer to being bolt in than any other possible choice. That is one of the columns I haven't heard of anyone trying, yet should be very close. Might even bolt right in. Anyway, if a member could hybrid a mid-70s T-Bird column with a Mav, I would think anything is possible.
I'm getting the setup for $5.00. I found it on CL and emailed the guy. I don't think it's the whole column, at least you can't see the whole column in the pics he put on CL. I think it's just the tilt part+ the wheel. So I'll get it today after work and see if it'll work as far as modding. I'll post pics. Thanks for the info.
Yeah, let us know! I am torn on the tilt thing. Most guys here make the point that our steering wheels are almost perfectly positioned from the factory for about 99.9% of us. Including myself. But the urge to try something different and maybe see what positions I have been missing is killing me! I found a Granada column (and several other parts) dirt cheap a couple years back... I was going to use. But a hurricane came through and I never went to get the parts. The car is probably squished by now, with the way steel prices are.
Btw: Don't take for granted that the parts are not worth some dough! Get the parts in hand for 5 bux, then wait a week while the parts sit on eBay, to try and fit them. You might be surprised at what they are worth if you put them out there for the world to bid on. If they don't bring what you start your bid at (a reserve of sorts) then use the parts.
i wouldnt mind a little mre knee room myself. the tall guy that i bought my maverick from said he had to use a diffrent foot for the brake and throttle because when he picked his fot off of one to put on the other his knee would bump the wheel
