Should I recover them, or just use the rails with newer seats?

where is the option to find a nice bench seat to put in there? , what? I love bench seats...

I think new seat types in older cars are awesome, as long as the car has other "newer" modifications done to it (kinda loose term, like lowering or new style wheels, etc)...

Well, I like the '73 Maverick/Mustang buckets, but there's no denying that today's seats are much more comfortable and offer more lateral support. You get no lateral support from the Maverick buckets. I'm keeping mine though because They were hard to find and I had them re-upholstered. They look really good. But I'm going for a more nostalgic look rather than modern. I like BOTH ideas so I can't vote...

I really like the buckets in my 4 door. They're surprisingly comfortable. It's a shame that recoverting them is such an expensive proposition if you want it done right. Mine need redone and I'm looking at $500 easy for just the buckets. I just may end up going the same way I did on the Stallion and using a recovering kit. It's about half the price and looks factory.

i agree with Wes.. if you look at the cost of recovering them its quite alot! i mean i love the stock 73 buckets! however just to get my back seats recovered to match the front seats ran me just a bit under $500.. (more then half what what i bought the car for!) i even supplied the freakin material too! so in some cases it might just be better to change the seats or of another car and use the rails!

For the Grabber that I am going to be restoring, I am going to go with the original bucket seats and have them recovered. I like the look, but for any of the other Maverick's have I plan on going with the restomod look on older rails.

I'm on your side. I had several sets of bucket seat rails, and sold em all off, cause there is nothing like an old fashioned bench seat up front!!!

Despite what that poll shows, I have sold several sets of just the rails, so a lot of people are putting newer seats into their mavs

Why is it that the wider,,, I mean "older" we get the more comfortable those old bench seats are?

I am a BIG guy and there are few bucket seats that offer true comfort and support if you are not 180lbs or less. I like my '86 Mustang GT seats. With the right material I think they look good in a mav and you can get them fairly cheap at salvage yards.

Wouldn't be caught dead with bench seats when I was still cruising back in the day, so I suffered through fiberglass racing seats in my Grabber. It's all about comfortable style now. :D
